How verification works
Every credential has a unique ID, printed on the certificate and embedded in the digital badge. Anyone with that ID can confirm the credential on the public verification page or through the verification API, without contacting us and without an account.
The register is looked up by credential ID only. It cannot be browsed or searched by name, so a holder's record is found only by someone they have given the ID to.
What a record shows
The holder's name as it appears on the certificate, the credential name and level, the issue date, the expiry date, and the credential's live status. It does not show scores, attempts, accommodations, contact details or identity documents.
What each status means
Valid — the credential is current. Expired — its validity period has ended without recertification; it was genuinely earned but is no longer current. Suspended — it is temporarily not valid while a concern is investigated or a requirement is met. Revoked — it has been withdrawn, for example after misconduct or a confirmed error in its issue. Superseded — it was issued under an earlier, discontinued edition of the scheme and is no longer current.
Statuses change immediately: an employer checking a record always sees its current state, not the state on the day the certificate was printed.
Organisations and bulk checks
Employers, background-screening companies and partners can verify credentials in bulk through the keyed verification API. API keys are issued per organisation, can be revoked at any time, and their use is logged.
If something on your record is wrong
Contact us. We correct factual errors, such as a misspelled name, and reissue the certificate. A record cannot be removed while the credential exists, because others rely on it; when you close your account, the record stays with your personal data reduced to what verification needs.
