Retake Policy

Every attempt is separate

Each attempt needs its own exam access — bought, assigned by your organisation, or granted by AIPA — and is scored independently. Each attempt draws a freshly assembled form, so you will not see the same set of questions twice.

Waiting periods

If you do not pass, you may retake the exam twice: the first retake no sooner than 14 days after your first attempt, and the second no sooner than 30 days after your first retake.

If your third attempt is also unsuccessful, you must wait 12 months from that attempt before trying again; the cycle of three attempts then starts over. These limits protect the question bank from exposure, and they give you time to work on the domains your result showed were weakest.

After you pass

You cannot re-sit an exam for a credential you currently hold, except to renew it in the 90 days before it expires (see Recertification).

When the exam changes

When a new version of the exam blueprint takes effect, attempt counts and waiting periods start again for the new version.

Voided attempts

An attempt voided because of a fault on AIPA's side does not count towards any limit. An attempt voided for misconduct counts, and any further sanction is set out in the decision.
