Why we check
A credential is only worth something if the person who holds it is the person who passed. Before your first proctored exam, you submit a photo of an identity document and a selfie, and a member of AIPA staff compares them. There is no automatic approval.
What we accept
One current, original, government-issued photo identity document: a passport, a national identity card, or a driving licence. It must show your full name and photograph clearly, must not be expired, damaged or a photocopy, and must be in the Latin alphabet or accompanied by a Latin-alphabet version of your name.
The name on your account — which is the name that will appear on your certificate — must match the name on your document. If it does not, update your account name before you submit.
Review and outcome
A reviewer approves or rejects your submission, normally within 2 business days. If it is rejected you are told why and may submit again. A rejection is not a misconduct finding.
Submitting a document that is not genuine or not yours is a breach of the Candidate Agreement.
Name changes
If your legal name changes after verification, contact us with evidence of the change (for example, a marriage certificate or deed poll). We update the name on your record and reissue your certificate; your credential ID does not change.
How long we keep the images
Your identity document image and selfie are used only to verify your identity and to investigate a specific integrity concern. We delete them 90 days after the verification decision, unless an investigation, appeal or legal claim involving your attempt is open, in which case we keep them until it is closed. We keep a record that verification took place, who decided it and when.
